Coriantumr is recounted as a son of Omer, who is the king of the Jaredites. In this story, Omer is overthrown by his son Jared, who keeps him imprisoned for many years. Born while Omer is held prisoner, Esrom and Coriantumr restore their father as king of the Jaredites twice. When Coriantumr and Esrom's campaign succeeds, they spare their brother's life, instead confining him to servitude.
