Formal definitions

An enumeration problem P is defined as a relation R over strings of an arbitrary alphabet Σ:

R⊆Σ∗×Σ∗

An algorithm solves P if for every input x the algorithm produces the (possibly infinite) sequence y such that y has no duplicate and z∈y if and only if (x,z)∈R. The algorithm should halt if the sequence y is finite.
