Photovoltaics

The EAC (Electricity Authority of Cyprus) reported that 2,196 households installed rooftop solar panels in the first seven months of 2020, despite the global COVID-19 pandemic and the associated financial, economic, and social disturbances. Whilst this was on track to be the highest number of installations in a year (previously it was 5,083 systems installed in 2014), 2020 was also set to break the previous record for added capacity, which currently sits at 15.3MW. This record was also achieved in 2014.

The total number of households with photovoltaics was 16,546 as of September 2020. Solar energy and installation companies can be found in all of the major cities throughout the island, including Nicosia (the capital), Limassol, Larnaca, Famagusta and Paphos.
