Let X be a normed space with norm ‖⋅‖X. Then the Wiener amalgam space with local component X and global component Lmp, a weighted Lp space with non-negative weight m, is defined by

W(X,Lp)={f:(∫Rd‖f(⋅)g¯(⋅−x)‖Xpm(x)pdx)1/p<∞},

where g is a continuously differentiable, compactly supported function, such that ∑x∈Zdg(z−x)=1, for all z∈Rd. Again, the space defined is independent of g. As the definition suggests, Wiener amalgams are useful to describe functions showing characteristic local and global behavior.
