Recommended prep plan
Phase 1
Year 1 (foundation)
Excursion in Mathematics (Bhaskaracharya) + Pranesachar Combinatorics. Mathematical Circles (Russian).
Phase 2
Year 2 (depth)
Pre-RMO + RMO PYQs. Engel's Problem-Solving Strategies. Practice writing rigorous proofs.
Phase 3
3 months before
All IOQM PYQs since 2020 (when format changed from RMO). 1 timed paper per week.
Phase 4
Last 30 days
Trim weak topic (typically combinatorics or geometry). Solve 2 hard problems daily without time pressure first, then time-bounded.
Phase 5
Day-of exam
Lock the 10 easy (40 min) for guaranteed 20 marks. Then mediums. Hards last — but worth 5 each, so 2 of them = 10.
