Through Species, Seed dispersal and Secretion

Duikers are shy, generally solitary animals adapted to moving through dense cover. Although primarily browsers, they also eat fruit and occasionally animal matter. They act as seed dispersers, and many species are threatened by habitat loss and overhunting for bushmeat.

Etymology

The common name "duiker" comes from the Afrikaans word duik, or Dutch duiken - both mean "to dive", which refers to the practice of the animals to frequently dive into vegetation for cover.
