History

The father of the dust collector was Wilhelm Beth from Lübeck, a grinding mill engineer. In 1886, he was granted Patent No. 38396 for a “Suction Hose Filter with Automatic Cleaning Action". He invented particle collection systems to counter the dust produced by industrial machinery in the late 19th century. This was accomplished by creating a vacuum system to filter particles to capture dust. In 1887, Beth founded WFL Beth Maschinenfabrik, which became a global pioneer in the capturing of airborne particles.

In 1921, he patented three filter designs that he had pioneered to remove dust from air.
