Plants

The Morrison Formation is devoid of flowering plants; during the Jurassic, the Earth was dominated by ferns, seed ferns, and a wealth of gymnosperms—such as cycads, ginkgos, and conifers. Vegetation varied from river-lining forests of conifers, tree ferns, and ferns (gallery forests), to fern savannas with occasional trees such as the Araucaria-like conifer Brachyphyllum.
